Carlton Oaks Golf Club, situated in Santee, California, is a well-known 18-hole championship course just 20 minutes away from downtown San Diego. The course is set in a picturesque river valley location and provides a challenging experience for both local and visiting golfers. Carlton Oaks Golf Club has hosted several prestigious competitions, including the Canadian Tour, and qualifying for the PGA Tour's annual stop at Torrey Pines. It is also one of the courses that Phil Mickelson played on as a junior. The late Perry Dye, son of Pete Dye, redesigned the course in 1989. The bunkers are lined by railroad ties, and there are pot bunkers, large waste areas, mounding, and peninsula greens on the signature 11th and 12th holes. The course boasts a whopping 7,410 yards, and the forward tees measure 5,039 yards. Carlton Oaks Golf Club has practice facilities that include a driving range, a chipping area with a sand bunker, and a putting green. The clubhouse has a pro shop and a restaurant called the Oaks Bar & Grill that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The course may not be as expensive as some of the other golf courses in the area, but it offers a great value and is one of the best deals around.
