Hudson Hills Golf Course is one of the six courses that are managed by the Westchester County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Conservation and is located in Ossining, New York. It is situated just off Route 9A and the Taconic State Parkway, about four miles away from the Hudson River. This golf course is regarded as the most upscale, newest, and the most demanding among the munis of Westchester. While golfers of all skill levels can expect a challenge, skilled players would especially appreciate the test that this golf course offers. The course was designed by course architect Mark Mungeam in 2004 and is set amidst thick vegetation and dense woodlands on a hillside. None of the houses intrude on the course of the game, and four different sets of tee boxes stretch the layout from 5,102 yards to 6,935 yards. This course is known for its varied and unique holes, with elevated greens and tees, trees, and rough and fescue grass lining the fairways. The constant movement of the grounds and heaving terrain results in uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies and stances. Additionally, there are some blind shots, including target-style challenges created by penal roughs and environmentally protected areas, deep green side bunkers, and fairway bunkers, which contribute to the defense of par. Although not a comfortable field to walk due to its rough nature, one could still enjoy playing here, even if overmatched. The first tee box offers an impressive view of a considerable portion of the course, while the 13th hole provides a beautiful vista of the Lower Hudson Valley. The tee shot on the 14th hole, which requires a carry over a pond, could be the most thrilling moment of the day. While practice facilities are limited, with no driving range, the large putting green accommodates some chipping. The clubhouse houses a pro shop and the Woods Bar and Grill, a popular hangout spot that overlooks the course. Overall, Hudson Hills Golf Course presents a challenging yet enjoyable experience and is the most upscale among Westchester County's munis.
