The Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills Gold Course is a premier 18-hole course within a 45-hole municipal complex in Westminster, Colorado. Originally opened in 1965, it was one of the first championship golf courses in Denver's Northern Metropolitan area. Renowned architect Frank Hummel redesigned and rerouted the course in 1985, giving it its current layout. This course has a rich history of hosting prestigious tournaments, including the 1990 United States Women’s Public Links Championship and the 2010 Colorado State Public Links Championship, along with several C.G.A. and U.S.G.A. events. It has been recognized on Golf Advisor’s list of Top Courses in Colorado and even made an appearance on Golf Digest's list of top-100 U.S. courses you can play. The Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills Gold Course is celebrated for its captivating design and stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. The parkland-style course offers four sets of tee markers, ranging from 5,400 to 7,100 yards, ensuring a challenging yet enjoyable experience for players of all skill levels. The layout features a mix of open holes and tighter, tree-lined fairways, with mature pine, spruce, and cottonwood trees adding to the scenic beauty. Water hazards come into play on 11 holes, including a canal and seven ponds, with the par-3 8th hole boasting an island-like green. The course's difficulty is enhanced by forced carries over water and thick rough, while the greens are known for their receptiveness and subtle breaks, adding to the challenge. Golfers particularly enjoy the variety of holes and the breathtaking vistas of the Rocky Mountains, especially on the picturesque back nine, highlighted by the memorable par-5 15th hole. The Hyland Hills complex also features a regulation-length 9-hole course and two short 9-hole par-3 courses. For those looking to warm up before their round, there is a fully-lighted driving range, a chipping green with a sand bunker, and a large putting green adjacent to the golf shop. The clubhouse at The Greg Mastriona Golf Courses at Hyland Hills Gold Course includes a well-stocked pro shop and a full-service restaurant and bar, making it a popular venue for events and outings with its ample banquet space. Affordable and offering great value, this course is a favorite among players in the Denver metropolitan area, known for its fun layout and memorable golfing experience.
