DeBell Golf Club is a municipal course situated in the foothills of the Verdugo Mountains, just minutes away from downtown Burbank, California. It features an 18-hole regulation course, a 9-hole par-3 course, and a 9-hole disc golf course. William F. Bell designed the 18-hole course in 1959, which includes three sets of tees measuring 4,946 yards, 5,285 yards, and 5,608 yards from the forward markers, middle, and back, respectively. The par-71 layout is short, sporty, and fun, with the front nine comprising of five short par 4s, while the back nine is longer and tougher, with three par 3s. The course has several doglegs that meander around a mountain, often requiring players to hit layup tee shots for placement due to tight fairways. The hilly terrain, canyon fall-offs, meandering creeks, and thick rough provide a challenge for any player who cannot hit precise shots. The course is secluded by hillsides and mature trees, and the holes play in every direction on the compass. The putting surfaces are of good quality, but they are challenging to read, and downhill putts can get away quickly. The club offers a recently upgraded driving range and a putting green for warm-ups. DeBell Golf Club also has a craftsman-style clubhouse that includes a pro shop, the Hilltop Restaurant and Bar, and a deck that showcases great views of the course and valley. The course is walking-friendly, and deer and coyotes are frequently seen during early or late tee times. Overall, DeBell Golf Club is a unique and enjoyable public place to play that offers quality golf at an affordable price.
