The TPC Tampa Bay, former host of a PGA Tour Champions event from 1992 to 2012, maintains its professional tour pedigree today. This par-71 course, stretching nearly 7,000 yards from the tips, has crowned champions like Jack Nicklaus, John Cook, Hale Irwin, Bernhard Langer, and Tom Watson, a two-time winner of the Encompass Insurance Pro-Am. Designed by Bobby Weed, the course features challenging elements, including the formidable 484-yard ninth hole, known as one of the toughest par 4s on the tour, with trouble lurking down the left side. The finishing hole spans around 450 yards, requiring a nerve-testing approach over water to a difficult green. Throughout the TPC Tampa Bay course, golfers must skillfully navigate water hazards and wetlands on about half the holes, along with numerous bunkers and trees. The greens exhibit significant undulation, demanding precision with the putter. Despite its challenges, the course offers an enjoyable experience for golfers of all levels when played from the appropriate tees. In addition to the course, TPC Tampa Bay boasts exceptional practice facilities, including a large grass driving range, an expansive short-game area, and a putting green. As part of the PGA Tour's TPC Network, the facility also features a stunning clubhouse with a full-service golf shop and the Cuatro Restaurant and Bar, which serves a seasonal menu with fresh, local ingredients and hand-crafted cocktails.
